The Continental army was informed about the Massachusetts British governor's plan to arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams, as well as steal the patriots' military stash at Concord.

Paul Revere made his famous midnight ride to warn the colonists of the impending attack. At 11 pm, on April 18, 1775, two lanterns were waved back and forth in the church belfry. This was the signal for Paul Revere, waiting across the river to start his ride. He rode to Medford and Lexington and shouted to every house along the way, "To Arms, the British are Coming!"

Paul Revere was actually detained that night by sentries and was not able to complete his ride, since he was not released until morning. What is not commonly known is there were several other patriots who also rode that night, and at least one of them was female.

Located in Boston, Massachusetts, construction of the Old North Church was completed in 1723. Today the Old North Church is Boston's oldest church and contains the original high box pews. A chalice made by Paul Revere is still used during communion here.
